Short History of the Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys were granted a franchise in
1960 as an NFL expansion team. They were originally
called the Dallas Steers, then changed to the
Dallas Rangers, then changed to the Cowboys.
Their first year in the NFL they didn't win a
game going 0-11-1. Tom Landry was hired as head coach
who used the draft to build a team of contenders
and one of the most successful teams in the NFL.
The Dallas Cowboys hold the NFL record for the
most consecutive winning seasons at 20. They have
the most post-season appearances, the most division
titles at 19, the most appearances in an NFC Championship
game at 14 and the most Super Bowl appearances at 8.
