Alaskan Malamutes were the dog of choice when
Admiral Byrd made his expedition to the South Pole
in 1933.
Because of the loyalty of the breed and it's superior
ability to work hard, the U. S. Army called the breed
to help with the World War II effort where they served
as pack animals, search and rescue dogs and were used
for packing supplies to the troops.
Alaskan Malamutes love two things: cold weather
and pulling sleds. If you keep them as pets, they
must have daily exercise and don't be afraid to
make it rigorous.
