How to Store Dog Charms
Before you store your dog charms check them over and see if
they need to be cleaned or if there is any repair work that
needs to be done on them. Then you need to keep in mind the
different types of metals and components that may need
special attention.
You need to be sure to store your dog charms where you will
not lose them or forget them. Some people store their dog
charms with their own jewelry in their jewelry box. Others
buy a special box for their dog charms.
It is probably a good idea to keep your dogs charms separate
from your other jewelry. You can do this simply and
effectively by buying a simple box that has velvet-lined
compartments. Or you can get a plastic container that can
have multiple plastic compartments within, but you will need
to line the bottoms of the compartments with some soft
material to keep the charms from rattling around and
possibly breaking.
You do not want to store all of your dog charms together in
one bag or box. This can tangle the charms, break loops and
clasps and break or scratch any precious elements of the dog
charms.
Separating the different dog charms into their own
compartments is the best way to keep the dog charms safe and
easily found. If the dog charms are made from precious
metals or contain gems you should consider placing the charm
into a velvet-lined compartment or a velvet or silk bag to
protect them from getting scratched.
Some gems require special care, like pearls require moisture
in order to stay in good condition and special care needs to
be taken when storing them. If your dog charms have pearls
you need to be aware of this.
Above all keep your dog charms out of high heat and moisture
areas when you store them. Metals tarnish very quickly when
high heat and moisture are present.
