French Bulldogs

The "Frenchie" can grow to a height of one foot (thirty and
one half centimeters). There are two different weight
classes for this breed, that of the nineteen to twenty-two
pound (eight and one half to nearly ten kilograms) and the
twenty-two to twenty-eight pound (ten to nearly thirteen
kilograms). If the dog is over twenty-eight pounds (12.7
kilograms) it is disqualified. This dog breed is known to
live ten to twelve years on average.

The French Bulldog has a problem with extreme temperatures.
If they become overheated they can have a stroke. They
definitely prefer cooler climates or air conditioning. The
French Bulldog does fine in an apartment setting. They can
be active indoors and are fine with a small backyard to play
in. These little dogs often show their terrier roots by
enthusiastically hunting mice.

The Frenchie needs to take a daily walk with its owner every
day in order to take care of its physical and psychological
needs. It is important that you make sure that you use
proper leash etiquette when walking this dog so that it
doesn't think that it is the leader.

When it is hot outside it is best to walk the dog during the
cooler part of the day and be sure to carry a bowl and water
with you. French Bulldogs can become over heated very easily
and their short muzzles can make their breathing more
labored, so be sure to watch your dog when it is hot outside
and bring it in or make it rest if it looks like it is
struggling to breathe. In very cold weather it is also a
good idea when walking outside to put a sweater on this dog.

The French Bulldog will play all day and all night if you
let it. They have higher energy levels than many other
breeds. They enjoy attention from their owners and usually
will bond closely with one family member.

This breed' short hair requires very little grooming. They
do like to be brushed regularly and this will help keep
their coat shiny and skin healthy. This breed shed
averagely.

Some dogs of this breed are known to drool and or slobber,
but thankfully a good percentage of dogs within this breed
do not have this problem.

Be sure to properly socialize and train your French Bulldog
so as to prevent its developing small dog syndrome.
