Hurdles, Jumps and Spreads used in Agility:
Minimum jump heights for the Championship Program include
for a dog twelve inches in height or less a twelve inch jump
height with a long jump span of twenty inches. For a dog
sixteen inches in height or less a sixteen inch jump with a
thirty-six inch long jump span. For a dog twenty-one inches
in height or less a twenty-two inch jump with a forty-eight
inch long jump span. For a dog over twenty-one inches in
height a twenty-six inch jump will be required with a sixty
inch long jump span.
On each Jump in all classes except for Masters two poles are
required for each jump. Wings on the jumps must be a minimum
of thirty-six inches and preferably forty-two to forty-eight
inches high with a minimum width of sixteen inches. The
majority of hurdles that will be used will be "winged"
hurdles.
For the Performance Program a dog that is twelve inches in
height or less will be required to perform an eight inch
high jump with a twelve inch long jump span. For a dog
sixteen inches in height or less a twelve inch high jump
with a twenty-four inch long jump span. For a dog twenty-one
inches in height or less a sixteen inch high jump with a
thirty-six inch long jump span. For dogs over twenty-one
inches in height a twenty-two inch high jump will be
required with a forty-eight inch long jump span.
Spread Hurdles:
The Spread Hurdles for the Championship Program dogs will be
required to jump twenty two inches and twenty-six inches for
a Regular Spread Parallel and require a twelve inch to
fifteen inch inclusive span and Ascending fifteen inch to
twenty inch span. For the Extended Spread ascending only at
twenty inch to twenty-four inch inclusive will be required.
For dogs jumping a twelve inch to sixteen inch spread all
ascending the Spread will be twelve to sixteen inches. The
Extended Spread will be twelve inches. The hurdles should
have a slanted ground line pole at either the back or back
to front to prevent tipping of the hurdle. The front hurdle
must be at least four inches lower than the jump height.
Poles and Pole Supports:
For round poles the cups must have one eighth of an inch
maximum depth and is not to exceed pole width. For the flat
rails the flat holder should not exceed one and three
quarters of an inch in width. The PVC poles must be Schedule
forty, one inch or one and one quarter inch i.d. only. The
rails must be approximately one and one quarter inch to one
and three quarters inch square. The poles, planks and rails
must be between four feet and five feet in length.
