Feline Skin Problems
Edited By: Alfred Cat
Skin problems in cats can cause them serious discomfort. It
can be a serious health issue as well, and an eyesore. The
longer the problem progresses the more serious the skin
problem can become.
In some cases the problem is an allergy to a specific thing
like a particular brand of cat food, shampoo or flea spray.
Other times it may be a parasite or fungus attacking the
skin itself. Skin problems may also be symptoms of an
internal disorder or disease or a dietary inadequacy.
Some cats can also have a nervous problem that leads them to
tear out their own hair, bite themselves compulsively or
lick themselves compulsively till they cause their skin to
break out in sores. In these cases the only way to manage
the cat's self destructive tendencies is to go to the
veterinarian and have the cat diagnosed and prescribed some
tranquilizing medication.
