Five Little Blue Birds

Five little blue birds, hopping by my door
One went to build a nest, and then there were four

Four little blue birds singing lustily
One got out of tune, and then there were three

Three little blue birds, and what should one do,
But go in search of dinner, leaving only two.

Two little blue birds singing for fun
One flew away, and then there was one.

One little blue bird sitting in the sun
He took a little nap, and then there was none.

Five Little Chickadees

A finger play or whole body movement activity
Five little chickadees, sitting by a door
One flew away, and then there were four

Chorus:
Chickadees, chickadees, happy and gay,
Chickadees, chickadees, fly away.

Four little chickadees, sitting in a tree
One flew away, and then there were three.
Repeat the Chorus

Three little chickadees, looking at you
One flew away, and then there were two.
Repeat the Chorus

Two little chickadees, sitting in the sun
One flew away, and then there was one.
Repeat the Chorus

One little chickadee, sitting all alone
That one flew away, and then there was none.

Mary Had A Pretty Bird

Mary had a pretty bird,
Feathers bright and yellow,
Slender legs, upon my word
He was a pretty fellow.

The sweetest notes he always sung,
Which much delighted Mary,
And often where the cage was hung,
She stood to hear Canary.

The Cuckoo's a Fine Bird

The cuckoo's a fine bird,
He sings as he flies;
He brings us good tidings
He tells us no lies.

He sucks little birds' eggs,
To make his voice clear;
And when he sings "Cuckoo"
The summer is near !

The cuckoo is a merry bird,
She sings as she flies;
She brings us good tidings,
And tells us no lies.

She sucks little birds' eggs
To make her voice clear,
That she may sing Cuckoo!
Three months in the year.

The Little Bird

Once I saw a little bird
Come hop, hop, hop;
So I cried, "Little bird,
Will you stop, stop, stop?"

And was going to the window
To say, "How do you do?"
But he shook his little tail,
And far away he flew.

Goosey, Goosey, Gander

Goosey, goosey, gander,
Whither shall I wander?
Upstairs, and downstairs,
And in my lady's chamber.

There I met an old man
Who wouldn't say his prayers!
I took him by the left leg
And threw him down the stairs.

Sing a Song of Sixpence

Sing a song of sixpence,
A pocket full of rye;
Four-and-twenty blackbirds
Baked in a pie!
When the pie was opened
The birds began to sing;
Was not that a dainty dish
To set before the king?
The king was in his counting-house,
Counting out his money;
The queen was in the parlor,
Eating bread and honey.
The maid was in the garden,
Hanging out the clothes;
When down came a blackbird
And snapped off her nose.

Robin Redbreast

Little Robin Redbreast sat upon a tree,
Up went Kitty-Cat, down went he,
Down came Kitty-Cat, away Robin ran,
Says little Robin Redbreast: "Catch me if you can!
Little Robin Redbreast jumped upon a spade,
Kitty-Cat jumped after him, and then he was afraid.
Little Robin chirped and sang, and what did Kitty say?
Kitty-Cat said: "Mew, mew, mew," and Robin flew away.
