The Woodpecker

The woodpecker pecked out a little round hole
And made him a house in a telephone pole.
One day when I watched he poked out his head,
And he had on a hood and a collar of red.

When the streams of rain pour out of the sky,
And the sparkles of lightning go flashing by,
And the big, big sheels of thunder roll,
He can snuggle back in the telephone pole.

Mrs. Peck-Pigeon

Mrs. Peck-Pigeon
Is picking for bread,
Bob-bob-bob
Goes her little round head.
Tame as a kitty-cat,
In the street,
Step-step-step
Go her little red feet.
With her little red feet
And her little round head,
Mrs. Peck-Pigeon
Goes picking for bread.

Birds Flying in Line With Feathers So Fine

Five blue birds sitting in a tree,
The first bird said, "Look what I see."
The second bird said, "Look what I see."
The third bird said, "Their feathers are so fine."
The fourth bird said, "Quick, let's fly away!"
The fifth bird said, "No, let's all stay."
Then a black bird said, "Let's win!"
"Join us, and we'll be ten."

Well, all the birds flew together
In all kinds of weather.
Through the blue sky,
All ten would fly.
Till own brith summer day,
the blue birds in the tree did stay.
The black birds kept flying in line,
Leaving their new friends to pine.
Once again they were five and five!

Birds

Look at the bird
Up in the treetop,
Building its nest
With no time to stop.
Hatching its eggs
So smooth and so round,
Then feeding its babies
Worms from the ground.

Look at the bird
With beak for a mouth.
When it gets cold,
The bird will fly south.
When it gets warm,
The bird will return.
Let's watch how the birds live,
And see what we learn.

Bird's Nest

Among the trees
Is a bird's nest,
And in the nest
Her three eggs rest.

And in each egg--
Hush, you'll be heard!--
There lies asleep
A tiny bird.

Baby Birdies

We are baby birdies living in a nest.
We dream of flying when we take our rest.
Finally one spring day we hop, hop, hop.
And flutter our wings flop, flop, flop.
They lift us up and then we fly.
We fly around the sky.
Flying very high and flying very low.
Then in a big circle--round we go.
Finally we soar home and go to sleep.
We close our eyes without a peep.

Once I Saw a Little Bird

Once I saw a little bird
Come hop, hop, hop.
So I cried, "Little bird,
Will you stop, stop, stop?"

I saw going to the window
To say, "How do you do?"
But he shook his little tail,
And away he flew.
