Cormorants
By: Petey & Petunia

Cormorants have webbed feet. They are fish eaters that swim with
their bill tilted upward. Cormorants dive from the surface and swim
under water.

Cormorants nest in colonies on the seacoasts of temperate and
tropical regions.

Cormorants have slender beaks, long necks, and stiff tails.
Their plumage is usually glossy black.

They often perch with wings half open to dry.

Their nests are made of seaweed.

The most widely distributed North American species is the
double-crested cormorant of the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.

Anhingas are also referred to as snakebirds.

Cormorants belong to the Pelican family
