Blackbirds are medium to large with mainly an iridescent black
or black with yellow and orange coloring. Blackbirds have heavy bills.
The red winged blackbird is one of the most abundant birds of North America,
ranging from Alaska to Central America. It shares western
marshes with the yellow-headed blackbird.
Blackbirds feed on grains, seeds, some fruits and some insects.
Blackbirds belong to the order Passeriformes.
